Kaleidoscope

2020 Saul Bell Award - First Place in silver

Combine advanced laser technology and traditional metalsmith techniques, I try to create air-light spatial structures with 152 pieces of 26ga argentium silver and 28 pieces of 18k gold wires. As looking into a kaleidoscope, this design looks like in a constant moving and changing status without definition of borders.

Helices

2019 Saul Bell Award - First place in Fine Collection

Helices are three - dimensional spiral curves. Not only being the most fascinating structures in mathematics, helices are also important in biology, as the DNA molecule is formed as two intertwined helices, and many proteins have helical substructures. The Helices collection is trying to explore this mysterious spiral structure in order to inspire people’s curiosity of the connection between physical and spiritual worlds.

Origami - Window with a View Collection

2018 Saul Bell Award - Best of Show

The magic of origami moves from paper to metal in this collection. Through "folding", these "angled" silver surfaces become not only geometrically beautiful but structurally sound. Vivid effects are achieved with hand pierced perforations that allow light, shadow and reflection. For added dimention, gold was applied using Keum-boo technique.

Turning Collection

2017 Saul Bell Award - Second Place in Alternative Category

Intriguing twists of intersecting squares yield a boldly unconventional design in polyester fiber. Drawing inspirations from traditional wood structure by evolving from basic details, the repetition of geometrical rhythm generates an organic beauty with twisted curved lines.
